Tell Your Story: Personal Narrative Writing Class
For five weeks, writers will discover personal memories and learn to craft stories into written memoir, and share their written work. Writers of all levels of experience are welcome.
Sessions will address ways to retrieve details, create believable characters, organize the narrative, use dialogue effectively, sharpen the text through careful editing, and related topics. Linda Loomis will facilitate the group.
Linda Loomis has facilitated writing groups at several area libraries and taught journalism and creative writing at SUNY Oswego, where she was a tenured professor and director of the journalism program. Prior to teaching, she had been an editor and reporter for the Brown Newspapers (The Liverpool Review) and editor of the OSWEGO Alumni Magazine. Her byline now appears on articles about music and the arts at Syracuse.com/The Post-Standard, where she is a contributing writer. She is committed to helping people write fiction, poetry, and memoir that is interesting, creative, and engaging.
