Books for Breakfast meets on the 3rd Tuesday every month at 9:30 am. We are currently meeting by both Zoom and In Person. Register and indicate which way you plan to attend!

During National Library Week we will discuss The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes. This fiction-based-in-fact story tells of five extraordinary women and their remarkable journey through the mountains of Kentucky and beyond as part of Eleanor Roosevelt’s new traveling library. These intrepid women carried books on packhorses to the many rural towns and valleys of Appalachian Kentucky.

For people who attend the group regularly, a hold will be placed for you each month in time for the next month's book to arrive by our meeting date. If you are not a regular attender, please place a hold yourself or contact the library to place the hold for you.

You may also want to read The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson for another fictional story based on the real Pack Horse Librarians of Kentucky. The two books came out 5 months apart, and although their stories are very different, the settings and shared research materials have lead to Jojo Moyes being accused of plagiarizing parts of The Giver of Stars. By most accounts, both are well written books.
